1. About Litdom
Litdom, also known as Literature Kingdom, is a digital literature platform for serialized fiction and serialized nonfiction, reading, publishing, writer education, and literary community features.
Litdom provides different features for readers, writers, contributors, editors, and other users. Different features can have additional rules that apply specifically to them.
2. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating a Litdom account or using Litdom, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not create an account or use Litdom.
Additional policies, rules, publishing agreements, payment rules, community standards, and other terms apply to particular Litdom features. Those documents form part of the rules governing those features.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Litdom account.
Anyone below the minimum age is not permitted to create or maintain a Litdom account.
Where the law applicable to a user requires a higher minimum age, additional consent, or additional protections for younger users, those legal requirements apply.
By creating an account, you confirm that you satisfy the age requirements applicable to your use of Litdom.
4. Creating and Maintaining an Account
You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating your account and for keeping your account information reasonably current.
You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for activity carried out through your account.
Do not share your password or deliberately give another person access to your account.
Do not use another person's account without authorization.
Litdom accounts cannot be used to impersonate another person, create fraudulent identities, conduct scams, or mislead other users about who operates the account.
Using a pen name, username, or pseudonymous public identity is not impersonation when the account does not falsely represent itself as another identifiable person or organization.
5. Multiple Accounts
A user can maintain up to five Litdom accounts, with each account associated with a different email address.
Creating or controlling more than five accounts is prohibited.
If you reach the five-account limit and want to create another account, you must delete an existing account first.
Creating additional accounts to evade a suspension, restriction, or permanent ban is prohibited.
Litdom does not treat the existence of multiple permitted accounts as misconduct by itself. Enforcement focuses on violations of these Terms and attempts to circumvent Litdom's enforcement systems.
Litdom uses account, security, and abuse-prevention controls to enforce its account rules. The specific technical controls used to identify abuse are not disclosed where disclosure would make those controls easier to defeat.
6. Profiles and Public Identity
Litdom allows users to maintain public profiles where the relevant profile features are available.
A user does not have to use their legal name as their public display name unless a particular feature or legal requirement requires otherwise.
Writers can publish under a pen name or other permitted public identity while providing required private information for account, payment, publishing, or legal purposes.
Do not use a profile to falsely represent yourself as another person, organization, Litdom staff member, editor, or public figure.
7. User Content
Users can submit or publish different forms of content through Litdom, including books, chapters, comments, posts, short-form content, profile information, and other material supported by the platform.
You remain responsible for the content you submit, publish, upload, or otherwise make available through Litdom.
You must have the rights and permissions necessary to submit the content.
You must not upload or publish content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
You must not deliberately submit stolen, copied, fraudulent, or misleading content.
8. Books, Chapters and Publishing
Litdom supports serialized fiction and serialized nonfiction.
Writers remain responsible for the originality, legality, accuracy, and quality of the books they submit.
Publishing a book on Litdom does not transfer copyright ownership of the underlying work to Litdom.
Writer-specific publishing rights, exclusivity, revenue sharing, publishing periods, withdrawal rules, and other contractual matters are governed by the applicable Writer & Publisher Terms and any separate publishing agreement accepted by the writer.
A writer must comply with both these Terms of Use and the publishing terms applicable to the writer's book.
9. Litdom Posts and Short Posts
Litdom supports written posts and articles separate from full-length books.
Litdom Posts can contain useful, original, organized, and substantive written material submitted for editorial review and publication.
Litdom also supports shorter user-generated posts or snippets where those features are available.
Short-form posts follow the visibility and retention rules attached to the relevant Litdom feature. Temporary posts can expire and disappear from public view after the applicable period.
Posts and articles must comply with Litdom's Community Guidelines, Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy, and User Content & Litdom Posts Policy.
10. Community Conduct
Litdom is a literary community. Users must interact with other users without harassment, threats, intimidation, deliberate humiliation, targeted abuse, or bullying.
Repeated harassment, insults, humiliation, targeting, or bullying of another user results in a six-month suspension.
Threatening another user results in a permanent ban.
Hate-based or abusive conduct results in a suspension of one to two weeks, depending on the nature and severity of the conduct.
Users must not use Litdom's comments, posts, books, profiles, or other features to deliberately abuse another person.
11. Prohibited Activities
You must not use Litdom to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, or deliberately target another user.
- Impersonate another person, organization, writer, editor, or Litdom representative.
- Operate scams or deliberately deceive users for money or other benefits.
- Manipulate views, follows, likes, reviews, unlocks, gifts, or other platform activity.
- Exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, payment systems, wallets, rubies, diamonds, or other platform mechanisms.
- Use fake accounts or coordinated activity to create fraudulent engagement.
- Attempt to bypass account restrictions, suspensions, or permanent bans.
- Submit stolen or plagiarized books or other protected content.
- Upload content that violates applicable law or another person's legal rights.
- Use Litdom to distribute malware, malicious code, or other material designed to compromise systems or accounts.
- Interfere with the operation or security of Litdom.
- Use automated systems to abuse Litdom's services or deliberately overload the platform.
Sexual Content
Sexual content that violates Litdom's content rules is removed from the platform.
When a book contains prohibited sexual content, Litdom removes the book from the platform. Additional account enforcement applies where the circumstances justify it.
Scams and Fraud
Using Litdom to scam users, deliberately deceive users for money, or solicit money through fraudulent conduct results in a permanent ban.
Impersonation
Deliberate impersonation of another person, writer, organization, Litdom staff member, or other identifiable entity results in a permanent ban.
12. Copyright and Intellectual Property
You must own or have permission to use the intellectual property you submit to Litdom.
Writers retain ownership of their copyright unless they separately transfer a right under a valid written agreement. Litdom's publishing rights are governed by the applicable publishing terms and agreements.
Proven plagiarism or deliberate submission of stolen work results in serious enforcement, including permanent account termination where serious enforcement, including permanent account termination where the violation is deliberate or sufficiently serious.
Copyright ownership remains with the person or entity that legally owns the work. Publishing content on Litdom does not by itself transfer ownership of that content to Litdom.
Litdom receives only the rights necessary to operate, display, distribute, promote, and provide the relevant Litdom service according to the applicable publishing terms, user-content rules, or separate written agreement.
If you believe content on Litdom infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, use Litdom's copyright reporting process and provide enough information for the claim to be reviewed.
13. Editorial Review and Content Decisions
Litdom may review books, chapters, posts, submissions, and other content before or after publication where editorial review is part of the relevant feature.
Editorial review can consider writing quality, originality, organization, suitability for the platform, compliance with Litdom's policies, and other requirements applicable to the feature.
Submission of content does not guarantee publication.
Litdom can reject, return for revision, remove, or decline to publish content that does not satisfy the requirements applicable to the relevant feature.
Editorial decisions about whether content meets Litdom's publishing standards are separate from copyright ownership. A rejected or unpublished work remains the property of its lawful owner unless a separate agreement provides otherwise.
14. Moderation and Enforcement
Litdom enforces these Terms, the Community Guidelines, the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy, the User Content & Litdom Posts Policy, publishing terms, and other applicable platform rules.
Enforcement can apply to an account, book, chapter, post, comment, profile, transaction, or other activity connected to a violation.
Depending on the violation, enforcement can include content removal, posting restrictions, visibility restrictions, temporary suspension, permanent account termination, recovery of improperly obtained platform value, or other measures necessary to address the violation.
Enforcement Rules
- Repeated harassment, insults, humiliation, targeting, or bullying: six-month suspension.
- Threats against another user: permanent ban.
- Hate-based or abusive conduct: one- to two-week suspension, depending on the nature and severity of the conduct.
- Scams or deliberate fraudulent money requests: permanent ban.
- Deliberate impersonation: permanent ban.
- Spam: posting or visibility restriction, including a six-month restriction where the applicable enforcement requires it.
- Fake engagement or deliberate manipulation of views, follows, likes, reviews, unlocks, gifts, or other platform activity: account, posting, or visibility restriction. Serious or repeated manipulation can result in a ban.
- Economic manipulation involving rubies, diamonds, wallets, payments, gifts, unlocks, or other platform value: account enforcement up to permanent termination, together with recovery of improperly obtained value where appropriate.
- Attempting to circumvent a suspension, restriction, or ban: further suspension or restriction. Repeated circumvention escalates enforcement, and a fifth enforcement event results in permanent account termination.
Where Litdom applies a visibility restriction, the account can remain accessible while the distribution or visibility of the affected content or activity is limited according to the applicable enforcement.
Litdom does not use enforcement as a substitute for resolving ordinary disagreements between users. Enforcement focuses on conduct, content, activity, and other matters that violate applicable Litdom rules.
15. Reporting Abuse or Violations
Users can report suspected violations of Litdom's rules through the reporting method provided by Litdom.
A useful report should identify the account or username involved and, where applicable, the relevant book, chapter, post, comment, or other content.
Reports should include a clear explanation of the suspected violation and supporting evidence, such as screenshots or other relevant information, where available.
A report is an allegation, not automatic proof of a violation. Litdom reviews the available information before taking enforcement action.
Users must not deliberately submit false reports to harass, punish, or interfere with another user.
16. Reviews and Enforcement Decisions
Litdom can review an enforcement decision when there is a genuine administrative, technical, or automated error affecting the wrong account, content, or activity.
A user cannot avoid a valid suspension simply because they disagree with the underlying rule or enforcement decision.
A suspension remains in effect while it is being served unless Litdom determines that the enforcement resulted from a genuine error.
Serious permanent enforcement decisions are final, except where Litdom identifies a genuine administrative, technical, or automated error that caused the decision.
Users must not repeatedly submit substantially identical challenges after a matter has already been reviewed and resolved.
17. Account Deletion and Termination
You can request deletion of your Litdom account through the contact method provided by Litdom.
Litdom does not currently provide an instant self-service account deletion process.
After receiving a deletion request, Litdom provides a two-week period during which the user can reverse the request or confirm that the deletion should proceed.
After the deletion request is confirmed, or after the applicable two-week period expires without the user reversing the request, Litdom permanently deletes or removes account information that it is able to delete.
Some information can be retained where retention is required or permitted for legal, financial, fraud-prevention, security, dispute, contractual, or other legitimate recordkeeping purposes.
Deleting an account does not automatically cancel or terminate a separate publishing agreement or other contractual obligation.
Litdom can terminate an account, suspend access, or restrict platform activity when a user violates these Terms, applicable policies, publishing agreements, or other platform rules.
18. Publishing Contracts and Account Deletion
Writers who enter into a separate publishing agreement with Litdom are bound by the terms of that agreement in addition to these Terms of Use.
A publishing agreement can establish specific rights concerning publication, exclusivity, revenue, withdrawal, distribution, and the publishing period of a work.
Where a valid publishing agreement provides for a publishing period, including a contractual period of up to 10 years, deleting a Litdom account does not by itself terminate that contractual obligation.
Copyright ownership remains with the writer unless the applicable agreement expressly provides otherwise. The publishing rights granted to Litdom continue according to the terms of the applicable agreement.
Account deletion and termination of a publishing agreement are separate matters and are governed by their respective terms.
19. Rubies, Diamonds and Platform Features
Litdom uses platform features such as rubies and diamonds for certain reading and unlocking functions.
Rubies can be used to unlock eligible chapters where the relevant feature requires them.
Diamonds can be used for eligible full-book unlocks where the relevant feature provides that option.
Reading and unlocking rules, including chapter locks, unlock costs, rewards, and other platform mechanics, are determined by the relevant Litdom feature.
Platform currencies are not bank deposits, legal tender, or ownership interests in Litdom.
Rubies and diamonds cannot be exchanged between users for cash or transferred outside the Litdom platform unless Litdom expressly provides a feature allowing such a transfer.
Users must not exploit technical errors, payment errors, duplicated balances, unauthorized transactions, or other system defects to obtain rubies, diamonds, unlocks, gifts, or other platform value.
Litdom can reverse, correct, or remove improperly obtained platform value and can take account enforcement action where the user deliberately exploited the error.
20. Payments, Gifts and Writer Earnings
Certain Litdom features require payment. Payments are processed through the payment provider made available for the relevant transaction.
Litdom currently uses Flutterwave for applicable payment processing.
Litdom does not receive or store your full card number or card security code when those payment details are handled by the payment provider.
Transaction records can include information such as the account associated with the transaction, transaction reference, amount, currency, payment status, and other information required to reconcile the transaction.
Gifts
Readers can send paid gifts to eligible writers where the gift feature is available.
Current gift amounts range from ₦150 to ₦50,000.
Litdom applies a 5% platform fee to gifts, together with applicable payment-processing fees.
Writer earnings, payout eligibility, payout processing, revenue sharing, and other writer-payment rules are governed by the applicable Writer & Publisher Terms and any separate agreement.
Litdom can withhold, reverse, or adjust amounts where necessary to correct fraudulent transactions, payment errors, chargebacks, duplicate transactions, or other improperly obtained value.
21. Third-Party Services
Litdom relies on third-party services and infrastructure to provide certain platform functions.
These services can include payment processing, authentication, database infrastructure, hosting, analytics, communications, notifications, and other technical services used by Litdom.
Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
Where a Litdom feature sends you to or relies on a third-party service, your use of that service is also subject to the third party's applicable terms.
Litdom is not responsible for the independent operation, policies, availability, or decisions of third-party services.
22. External Community Platforms
Litdom can maintain or use community spaces on external platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Facebook, or other services.
External community spaces are operated on the relevant third-party platform and are subject to that platform's rules and technical limitations.
Litdom's Community Guidelines and other applicable Litdom rules also apply to conduct connected to official Litdom community spaces where Litdom has authority to moderate or enforce those rules.
Litdom does not control the privacy, availability, security, or policies of external platforms.
23. Security and Abuse Prevention
Users must not attempt to compromise Litdom's systems, accounts, payment processes, databases, or other infrastructure.
Prohibited activity includes unauthorized access, credential theft, malicious code, exploitation of vulnerabilities, automated abuse, deliberate service disruption, and attempts to bypass security or access controls.
Litdom uses reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the platform and user information.
Users must promptly report suspected security vulnerabilities or unauthorized access through Litdom's designated contact method rather than attempting to exploit or publicly disclose the vulnerability before Litdom has an opportunity to investigate.
Litdom can restrict accounts, transactions, devices, sessions, or other access when necessary to protect users, the platform, payment systems, or other legitimate interests.
24. Platform Availability and Changes
Litdom is a developing digital platform. Features, interfaces, technical systems, content categories, pricing, rewards, and other platform functions can change as the service develops.
Litdom can add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features where necessary for development, maintenance, security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or other operational reasons.
Litdom does not guarantee that every feature will remain available permanently.
Litdom can temporarily restrict access to all or part of the platform for maintenance, security, technical problems, emergencies, or other operational reasons.
Where a change materially affects an existing contractual publishing right or payment obligation, the applicable publishing agreement or payment terms govern the relevant matter.
25. Disclaimers
Litdom is provided as a developing digital platform for literature, publishing, education, and community features.
Litdom does not guarantee that the platform will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, or free from technical defects.
Litdom does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, legality, originality, quality, or reliability of user-generated content.
Users are responsible for evaluating content before relying on it. This is particularly important for educational, medical, financial, legal, or other information that can affect real-world decisions.
Litdom does not provide professional medical, legal, financial, or other regulated professional advice merely because such information appears on the platform.
26. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Litdom is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of the platform or inability to use the platform.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Litdom is not responsible for losses arising from user-generated content, interactions between users, third-party services, external community platforms, payment provider failures, unauthorized access caused by a user's failure to protect their credentials, or events outside Litdom's reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
27. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of Litdom, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another person's rights, or your intentional or negligent misuse of the platform.
This provision does not require you to indemnify Litdom for losses caused by Litdom's own unlawful conduct to the extent that applicable law does not permit such liability to be shifted.
28. Applicable Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Litdom and its operation in Nigeria, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply to a user under applicable law.
Litdom encourages users to contact Litdom first to attempt to resolve disputes informally before starting formal proceedings.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a user from exercising a legal right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it can be brought before a court or other legally authorized dispute-resolution body with appropriate jurisdiction under applicable Nigerian law.
29. Changes to These Terms
Litdom can update these Terms when the platform, its features, applicable rules, or legal requirements change.
The updated version will show a new “Last updated” date.
Where a change materially affects users, Litdom will provide reasonable notice through the platform or another appropriate communication method where required.
Continuing to use Litdom after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
